This young writer’s contest began in 2004. Louisiana Writing Project teacher-consultants choose the finalists in each category and professional authors choose the top three in each category (poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and junior and senior French). The finalists are chosen on voice, originality/surprise, imagery/figurative language, clarity, economy, and significance/insight. The competition is open to all Louisiana students, K-12.
This year’s deadline is May 15, 2013
